产业集群是一种世界性经济现象，与单一企业相比，产业集群中企业有着更强的竞争力、更快的发展速度和更为出色的创新能力。产业集群通过形成企业网络把中小企业发展与区域经济成长、产业结构重组有机联系起来，可以充分发挥区域比较优势，提升区域经济竞争力。优势产业集群是一个地区的经济特色和产业形象，是一个地区经济增长的动力和竞争实力的核心。集群促使区域优势产业不断增长并成为地区的经济支柱，从而带动整个地区的经济增长。近年来中原经济区的产业集群得到了快速发展，已经出现产业集群和当地经济联动发展的趋势。研究产业集群与区域经济发展的关系，对经济布局的合理化、优化资源配置、形成区域竞争优势具有重要的意义。 本文在详细分析中原经济区产业集群和区域经济现状前提下，利用行业集中度法构建产业集群和区域经济评价指标体系，进而构建中原经济区产业集群和区域经济发展的互动关系模型；通过多元回归分析得出两者之间具有明确的相互促进关系，产业集群水平的提高能够大大地促进区域经济发展水平的提升，同时区域经济发展水平的提升也可以在一定程度上促进产业集群水平的提高，但不及产业集群对区域经济的促进作用大；然后将中原经济区的产业集群、区域经济水平与典型地区进行多视角对比，找出中原经济区产业集群和区域经济发展中存在的主要问题，并根据分析结果提出促进中原经济区产业集群和区域经济协调发展的若干建议。本文的研究可以为中原地区政府有关部门制定经济发展政策提供参考，也为欠发达地区探索选择经济发展道路提供有益的借鉴。
