本次翻译实践报告以“理解、表达、变通”(CEA)为分析框架,详实回顾了翻译实践过程,厘析翻译实践中遇到的问题,将其归类分析并提供参考解决方案。依据CEA翻译描述框架,译者将翻译问题梳理归纳:理解层面,从理解词汇、理解语篇的维度分析翻译问题;表达层面,包含处理英式汉语问题,确保译文通顺;变通层面,主要讨论翻译时为了更好地传递信息所作出的信息取舍。研究发现,翻译过程中的“理解”问题可以通过查找词义、回归上下文语境的方式解决;“表达”问题注重避免过度使用被动语态、减少名词化与连接词、调整语序;“变通”问题主要采取减少信息以及增添信息的方式解决。

In recent years, countries have begun to look for and develop coal as clean gas energy, committing to alleviate the environmental problems caused by coal use, which makes the books on this topic quite influential. The translation text of this report is excerpted from Coal and Coalbed Gas Fueling the Future, which is based on the professional experience and on-the-spot exploration of the author. The views of the book benefit not only the research in the field of coal and coal-bed gas but also the CBM scientists, engineers, and managers.

This report took “Comprehension, Expression, Adaptation” (CEA) as the analysis framework, reviewing the translation practice process in detail, analyzing the problems encountered in the translation practice and provides reference solutions. According to the CEA translation description framework, the translator summarized the translation problems: “Comprehension” focuses on the comprehension of the words and context; “Expression” includes avoiding Anglicized Chinese and ensuring the coherence of the translation; “Adaptation” deals with the information choice to better deliver information in translation. It is found that the “Comprehension” problem could be solved by looking up the meaning of words and comprehending the context; the “Expression” problem is solved by avoiding overuse of passive voice, reducing nominalization and connectives, and adjusting sentence order; the “Adaptation” problem is mainly solved by the decrease and increase of the information.

The translation material of this report is closely related to the geological environment and coal discipline field. This report will provide a reference for the translation of relevant geological science and technology texts and coal disciplines.
