近年来，随着国内经济技术的蓬勃发展，专利申请数量不断增加。为进入国际市场竞争，扩大知识产权保护范围，越来越多的中国专利开始请求获得国际知识产权保护。《专利合作条约》（PCT）规定，进入国际阶段的专利申请必须提供相应语言的国际检索单位书面意见（WOSA）。因此，高质量的WOSA译文对新型专利能够成功获得国际知识产权保护起着重要作用。
   本翻译实践报告以译者在北京如文思科技信息咨询公司西安分公司实习期间的WOSA汉译英翻译项目为研究对象,论证了功能对等理论在指导WOSA汉译英翻译实践中的合理性和可行性。本报告梳理了译者在翻译过程中遇到的翻译问题并给出具体案例分析：词汇层面，翻译过程中多出现多义词和词性转换处理不当等问题；句法层面，存在复杂句及模棱两可处理不当等问题。在功能对等理论指导下,通过探讨具体案例，从词汇和句法层面出发，在翻译实践中尝试使用转译、适应、拆分重构以及增译等翻译技巧和方法来解决上述问题。
   通过本次翻译实践，译者发现功能对等理论可以有效指导专利文本翻译，如WOSA翻译，可以在两种不同语言间达成对等：译文文本可以在词汇和句法层面达意义对等，而非表面的形式对等。通过此次翻译实践，译者希望本文能为日后的WOSA翻译提供借鉴。

  In recent years, with the vigorous development of the economy and technology in China, there has been a continuous increase in the number of patent applications. In order to enter the global market and broaden the scope of intellectual property protection, more and more Chinese patents have requested to obtain international intellectual property protection. Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) stipulates that a patent application that enters the international stage must be provided with the Written Opinion of the International Searching Authority (WOSA) in the corresponding language. As a result, high-quality WOSA translation is critical for a new patent to successfully obtain international intellectual property protection. 
  Based on C-E translation projects of WOSA projects that the translator has undertaken at Xian Office of Beijing RWS Science & Technology Information Consultancy Co., Ltd., this translation practice report firstly demonstrates the rationality and feasibility of functional equivalence theory in the guidance of WOSA C-E translation. Then, the translation problems that occur during the translation process are summarized and analyzed with specific cases: at the lexical level, failures in dealing with polysemy and part of speech are discussed; and at the syntactical level, failures in dealing with complex logic relationship and ambiguities are analyzed. Next, by analyzing specific cases, corresponding translation techniques and methods, such as conversion, contextualization, division and reorganization, and addition, are provided under the guidance of the functional equivalence theory to solve the above-mentioned translation problems at lexical and syntactical levels.
  After this translation practice, the translator finds that the functional equivalence theory could effectively guide the patent text translation, such as WOSA translation. The meaning equivalence at lexical and syntactical levels could be achieved in the translated version, instead of only superficial formal equivalence. It is expected that this report could provide a reference for future WOSA translation practice.
