人的现代化问题可以追溯到文艺复兴时期，但人的现代化真正始于英国工业革命时 期，至今己有三百多年的历史，然而不论是在西方发达国家，还是在发展中国家人的现 代化进程远没结束。特别是现在正值中国宣布实施西部大开发战略和为2l世纪中叶基 本实现现代化而奋斗之际，这使得促进中国人的现代化进程具有重要的现实意义。人的 现代化问题涉及到多方面的因素，本文在辩证唯物主义和历史唯物主义的世界观和方法 论的指导下，运用哲学、社会学、教育学、经济学、历史学等多方面的知识研究这一问 题，使这个问题更加系统化． 本文从人的思想观念、思维方式、行为方式、生活方式实现从传统向现代的转变， 社会关系和谐发展，人的素质全面充分提高等方面考察了人的现代化的本质；论述了人 的现代化的基本特征；揭示了人的现代化的本质属性；回顾了我国人的现代化的发展历 程；讨论了社会现代化与人的现代化的关系；提出了现阶段我国人的现代化的长远目标 和现实目标，并结合我国国情给出了实现人的现代化的基本途径。
