随着中国经济的快速健康发展，经济的发展对能源的需求也越来越大，从2002年到2012年的十年中，中国煤炭产业随着中国经济的高速发展，进入“黄金十年”的快速发展期。我国已成为世界第一大煤炭生产国和世界第二大煤炭出口国，煤炭在我国的一次能源生产和消费构成中占三分之二以上，是中国最主要的能源。在煤矿企业快速发展的同时，煤矿企业自身也存在着一些亟待解决的问题，其中最重要的问题就是只注重煤矿企业的生产经营和安全生产，而忽视了对煤矿企业思想政治工作的重视，这直接导致了员工思想意识的松懈，而思想意思的薄弱，又影响煤矿企业自身的生产经营和安全生产,所以，煤矿企业必须大力开展煤矿企业思想政治工作。 本文从对思想政治工作进行的阐述入手；并从思想政治工作的内涵、指导思想、基本原则等方面去深入了解思想政治工作的意义，同时，研究了思想政治工作的主要做法和基本功能，这对煤矿企业提高思想政治工作效率有着很大的帮助。根据对发放问卷的问卷调查数据情况，发现现实中煤矿企业思想政治工作的现状，对这些现状进行深层次的分析，通过分析，发现煤矿企业思想政治工作存在的问题，可以通过完善理论建设，发挥党组织的政治核心作用、建立健全思想政治工作体系，明晰责任主体、创新思想政治工作，同时，要着力解决员工的生活困难，把煤矿企业思想政治工作与安全文化相结合，加强煤矿企业青年员工思想建设等一些切实可行的、富有成效的对策，使煤矿企业思想政治工作能够更好的为煤矿企业服务。真正做到帮助煤矿企业进行生产经营和安全生产
