没有农业现代化就没有国家现代化。当前中国正处于由传统农业向现代农业转变的关键时期，然而中国农业现代化面临着市场、资源、农业劳动力、资金等多重约束，使农业现代化成为中国整体现代化中最艰巨的任务。探讨和研究当前农业现代化发展中存在的问题，就是要寻找出制约农业现代化发展的因素，提出相应的解决办法，才能加快农业现代化建设的步伐，达到整体现代化建设的要求，促进国民经济又好又快的发展。 本文从农业现代化的基本概念和原理出发，运用马克思主义农业现代化思想以及西方经济学中关于农业现代化的相关理论。采用了规范描述法与实证研究相结合，静态分析与动态分析相结合、定性与定量相结合的研究方法。通过查阅相关资料和实际调查，取得第一手的资料，分析和研究当前中国农业现代化发展现状及存在的问题。分析和研究了美国、日本和法国农业现代化的历程，总结了他们的经验。根据当前中国农业的自然、社会条件和农业现代化水平，结合发达国家的经验认为，我国要实现的农业现代化是以当代先进的物质条件装备的，广泛使用现代农业科学技术的，经营方式现代化的，以现代农民为主体的农业。为此要大力发展农业机械化、农业科技化、农业产业化，提高农业劳动者的素质。分析了当前在农业机械化、农业科技化、农业产业化以及提高农业劳动者的素质过程中存在的问题及原因，提出了相应的解决办法和建议。 农业现代化是一个动态变化的过程，随着时代的发展不断变化。探索和研究当前农业现代化发展中存在的问题，提出解决的办法，从中寻找出中国农业现代化发展的规律，这不仅能促进当前农业现代化的发展，而且能为将来农业现代化的发展提供一定的借鉴意义。
