近年来,3D打印技术广泛应用于医疗行业、汽车制造等多个行业,国内外消费市场呈现出快速增长的趋势。为深入了解该领域技术原理和相关的应用场景,译者选取《3D打印技术手册:技术、设计与应用》(以下简称为《3D打印技术手册》)一书的前三章作为翻译实践材料,该书讲述了3D打印技术、设计优化原则及其在各行业的应用。 在对原文本进行翻译的过程中,译者发现,直接翻译原文往往会导致信息冗长、内容缺失以及表达不清,具体表现为功能词冗余、术语含义不明和句式结构复杂等问题。为了解决上述问题,译者查阅了所学理论知识,认识到它们与信息论中的过度冗余、冗余不足和信息偏差相关。在信息论指导下,译者通过删减无实义的功能词和重复表达、补充被省略的关键信息、对术语加以注释,以及根据英汉语序差异对句子结构进行调整,从而提高了信息传递的准确性和表达的清晰度,使译文更符合中文科技文本的语言习惯与表达规范。 本次翻译实践不仅加深了译者对 3D打印技术在制造业发展中的重要性理解,深化了对信息论在科技文本翻译中的应用认识,同时也为译者在未来相关领域的翻译奠定了基础,为 其他译者在科技文本尤其是3D打印技术文本的翻译中提供参考。 |

In recent years, 3D printing technology has been widely applied across various industries, including medical industrial and automobile manufacturing, with both domestic and international markets experiencing rapid growth. To gain a deeper understanding of the technical principles in this field and relevant application scenarios, the translator selected the first three chapters of The 3D Printing Handbook: Technologies, Design, and Application (hereinafter referred to as The 3D Printing Handbook) for this translation practice. This book provides an overview of 3D printing technologies, design optimization principles, and their applications across different industries. During the translation of the source text, the translator found that a direct translation often led to excessive redundancy, missing content, and unclear expression. These problems were specifically reflected in the redundancy of functional words, ambiguous terminology, and complex sentence structures. To address these issues, the translator consulted relevant theoretical knowledge and identified their connection to the concepts of excessive redundancy, insufficient redundancy, and information deviation in the Information Theory. Guided by this theory, the translator improved the accuracy and clarity of information transmission by removing non-essential functional words and repetitive expressions, supplementing omitted key information, adding annotations to technical terms, and adjusting sentence structures based on differences between English and Chinese word order. These efforts made the translation more consistent with the linguistic norms and stylistic conventions of Chinese scientific and technological texts. This translation practice has not only deepened the translator’s understanding of the significance of 3D printing technology in manufacturing development, but also strengthened the knowledge of the application of the Information Theory in scientific and technological translation. At the same time, it has laid a foundation for the translator’s future translation endeavors in related fields and served as a reference for other translators working on translations of scientific and technological texts, particularly those concerning 3D printing technology. |
