《倒流河》是贾平凹于2013年发表的中短篇小说，该作品以乡村人民“逐利”为核心线索，描绘了20世纪末至21世纪初经历变革的中国农村面貌，曾获人民文学奖优秀短篇小说奖，是贾平凹中短篇小说的经典代表作之一。该小说的语言风格与贾平凹一贯的写作手法如出一辙，文中充斥着大量的乡土语言与方言俗语，反映出独特的风土人情，承载着鲜明的乡土文化。笔者出于在研期间对于贾平凹作品的研究成果及个人兴趣，选定《倒流河》为本报告的翻译实践素材来源。

报告基于李长栓、施晓菁教授提出的“理解、表达、变通”为分析框架，分别从理解、表达和变通（CEA）三个维度探讨《倒流河》英译过程中的难点和应对策略。理解层面包含对小说背景信息的理解，以及对乡土语言和文化负载词的细节把控；表达维度包括调整句式结构、确保文内衔接；变通主要指通过增译、省译和改变说法等手段提高译文的可读性。

经过本次翻译实践，笔者发现正确理解原文的内涵、解决晦涩的文化负载词是翻译的第一要务；此外，译者需以目的语读者所熟悉的表达方式，有效传达原文意指，带给读者更好的阅读体验。本报告以CEA为分析框架，为文学文本的翻译实践报告提供借鉴；同时，本报告选取《倒流河》为翻译实践素材，一定程度上拓宽了贾平凹小说翻译实践的素材来源。

Backflow River is a novella written by Jia Pingwa in 2013. With the “pursuit of profit” as the core thread, it depicts the picture of Rural China undergoing changes from the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century. The novel, one of Jia Pingwa’s classic novellas, won the Award of Excellent Short Story of the People’s Literature Prize in 2013. The language style of the novel is the same as Jia Pingwa’s writing technique, which is filled with local language and dialect, reflecting the unique local conditions and customs and bearing the distinctive local culture. Due to the previous research experience and personal interest in Jia Pingwa’s works, this report is based on the text of Backflow River as the source of translation practice.

Based on the analysis framework of “Comprehension, Expression and Adaptation” (CEA) proposed by Professors Li Changshuan and Shi Xiaojing, the report explored the difficulties in translating Backflow River into English from three dimensions:  comprehension, expression, and adaptation. “Comprehension” includes the understanding of background information and language details. “Expression” includes adjusting sentence structure and ensuring coherence within the text. “Adaptation” mainly refers to improving the readability of the translated text by amplification, omission, and replacement.

Through this translation practice, it is concluded that the first task of translation is to correctly understand the connotation of the original text and solve the problem of obscure culture-loaded words. In addition, the translator should effectively convey the meaning of the original text in a way familiar to the target language readers so as to bring readers a better reading experience. This report adopts the CEA analysis framework to provide theoretical reference for the translation practice research of literary texts. At the same time, this report selected Backflow River as translation practice materials, which to some extent, broadens the material source for translation practice of Jia Pingwa’s works.
